Poetry Competition

On Tuesday 19th December some of the children in Year 6 participated in a poetry competition. The children had a variety of poems to choose from and learn off by heart, they also and had to think about: incorporating actions, changing the volume and pace of their voices, using expression to engage the audience and ensuring their performance suited the mood of the poem. We invited the Governors along to judge the competition, they were very impressed with the standard of the performances and found it difficult to choose just one winner.

A big well done to all of the children who participated with an extra special mention to our winning performers:

3rd place: Shamrutha, Lucy and Arvy

2nd place: Cameron

1st place: Felicity and Phoebe

Carnival Day

We had a great time during our 'Carnival Day' making bright and colourful headdresses; decorating t-shirts using fabric crayons, feathers and sequins; and testing out our Samba dance moves to some upbeat carnival music.

Here are some photographs taken throughout the day.

Culture Day

Year 6 had a great day celebrating different cultures around the world. They focused on Indian dance, African music and Chinese art.

Check out the videos below to listen to some our African drumming and see our wonderful Bollywood dances.

Meet our new House Captains

Year 6 have voted for their house and vice captains after carefully listening to each candidate's speech. They thought carefully about who they wanted to represent their house and set a good example to the rest of the school. Well done to all of the children who were nominated to be a house captain, we were very impressed with the standard of the speeches.
