The Pebble in my Pocket
We have started off the new year with a fantastic book called 'The Pebble in my Pocket'. It links to our new Rocks and Soils topic which we are all really enjoying - we all loved learning about the different types of rock and the structure of the earth.
We looked at some of the description from the book and picked out our 'golden lines' which created the best images in our minds of a volcanic eruption. We used pastels to draw the explosion, then the constrast of the calm afterwards.
We have used a great book called 'I'll Take You To Mrs Cole' in English as a stimulus for lots of brilliant writing. We have worked hard on our description and our sentence structure and are all ready to write some fantastic stories for our hot task. This picture shows how we began to look at the structure of the text and plan our own version.
To design our Class Charter we looked through the UN Rights of the Child and decided which ones were most important to us in school. We also discussed how we would respect those rights so that everyone is safe and happy here at DWJS.
